The Antidote brings back one of our favorites - Slugabed !!!

While so much of the world's post-dubstep / bass music productions today are making overly *serious* music, Slugabed's productions are sonically exploratory but with a sense of humor, whimsy, and straight up FUNK.

Blending influences both classic and contemporary, from the outermost reaches of dubstep, hip hop and beyond, Slugabed has received unanimous praise for his debut album 'Time Time, released on the Ninja Tune label in May 2012.

Under his Slugabed alias, 23 year-old Greg Feldwick creates music which is at once complex, deep, thoughtful and above all distinctive. It channels the energy of the best of today's bass music, through spacey bleeps and meditative melodies to explore the outermost reaches of electronic music making today.

Partly as a result of this interest he was offered a chance to remix Roots Manuva’s all-time great “Witness (1Hope)” for Ninja Tune’s twentieth anniversary boxset. The result was one of the stand-outs of that mammoth collection, and made him one of only a handful of producers to successfully remix that classic cut. In fact, Roots Manuva himself liked it so much that he personally requested the instrumental so that he could use it in his live set. Almost inevitably, the album deal with Ninja Tune followed shortly after.

Since then, things have really taken off for Feldwick. He has played at the legendary Berghain club in Berlin as part of Scuba’s SUB:STANCE night, toured the USA, Australia and Asia, and remixed both Eskmo and Stateless for his new home label, as well as supplying another remix for the mighty Roots Manuva's 'Get The Get' single.

Funny, clever, referential, sometimes moving and never anything but completely himself, Slugabed is a substantial new presence in UK bass music.

With an ongoing touring schedule throughout Europe and the world, 2 new singles planned, and work on his second LP underway, things look set to stay busy for Slugabed into 2013 and beyond.

Slugabed的音乐同时受到古典和现代音乐的影响，包括目前最流行的Dubstep电子音乐风格和Hip Hop嘻哈音乐。嘻哈方面Slugabed唤起人们对于“前Dilla时期”美国西岸嘻哈音乐的回忆，同时他又继承了英国Dubstep/Bass电子音 乐的味道。以英国著名摇滚音乐文化杂志《The Quietus》的话来说“Slugabed用自己典型英国风格的质疑态度将美国当代流行文化和英国Bass音乐最好的部分融合在一起。”

经过一年的辛苦协调工作，2013年3月30日周六在位于永福路5号的The Shelter庇护所酒吧， “Antidote解毒剂”将把这个电子音乐圈崛起的新星带到上海来

This will be his first set at the Shelter.

+ We welcome back ADAM WARPED from India / Dubai. Producer and DJ of damn fine techno and deep house. Running things at OHM RECORDS. From playing India's first Techno festival to running the show in Dubai, playing with heavyweights Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Funk D'Void, and Sven Vath.

+ TZUSING runs the Stockholm Syndrome nights, and plays the darker moodier side of things techno.

Pump Up The Volume (The History of House Music) directed by Carl Hindmarch (3 X 50mins) [2001]

Excellent and hugely influential British documentary which “follows the evolution of house music from its birth in Chicago to the myriad of diverse music it has since spawned.” And a bunch of legends tell their story about what house music really is. 

From Jack To Juke (25 Years of Ghetto House) directed by Sonali Aggarwal (60mins) [2012]

Flmmaker Sonali Aggarwal’s documentary on the Chicago-born and bred juke scene – a direct descendant of the city’s illustrious house music tradition. Rather timely considering how juke’s frenetic ghetto house beats have inspired the work of UK producers like Addison Groove and Ramadanman. Aggarwal does an excellent job connecting the dots from the Trax Records days to acid to ghetto to booty house to ghetto tech to juke. And dare we say it, but the parallels between the whole footwork dance battle thing and hip-hop’s perpetual competitive component seem pretty clear too. Essential viewing.

Disco: Spinning The Story directed by Mark McLaughlin (52mins) [2007] - 

At first glance it appears as if this will be another ho-hum VH1-style Disco doc However upon pressing play one will be greeted to a film rich with rare period TV, concert and promotional footage and a presentation that goes well beyond the norm featuring present day and archived snippets with many legends involved with Disco like Tom Moulton (Godfather of the 12 inch record and mix), Giorgio Moroder Producer of Donna Summer), Nile Rodgers (Chic), Earl Young (Trammps), Eddie Rivera (founder of I.D.R.C.), Marty Angelo (founder of the Disco Step By Step? TV show), Brian Chin (respected Disco writer).

Yeah, there's a lot of these post-dubstep "bass" music producers getting hyped up, but Slugabed's music truly stands out -- he brings a sense of humor, crazy weird low-end funk, raw synth magic, and explorations into new sonic territory.

Clash The Disko Kids a.k.a Kurt, is known for his hand picked selection of only the finest in underground experimental disco, electro, & techno. With absolutely no intention of pleasing the mainstream party posers, he defiantly sticks by his morals to feed the passionate techno and disco heads with brain sizzling tracks that never fail to satisfy. Meanwhile, his tracks have already received support by industry heavyweights such as Bart B More, NT89, Dem Slackers, Style of Eye, Malente, Supabeatz, Gtronic, Sound of Stereo, Sharem Jey and Mumbai Science to name a few. Heavily influenced by the Belgian-German techno sounds, his tracks will keep the clubbers dancing and shuffling till they drop.
