Randy Barracuda

* full gear live set

* presented by Antidote + 87fei87

@ Shelter Shanghai - Friday, June 27

@ Dada Beijing - Saturday, June 28

Finnish producer Randy Barracuda may be the Jimi Hendrix of nomenclature cheek. He has fired off such choice cuts as “Rick James Is Dead,” the curiously naughty sounding “Skweee Like a Pig”—“skweee” being the genre tag given Barracuda’s and other Scandinavian producers’ brand of R&B-ish breakbeats—and the dizzying “Ketamine Strut.”

Better still is how this verbal playfulness telegraphs his music’s puckish hybridization. Never merely lock-step techno or ambient electro, never settling for mining disco beats for a retro sheen or chasing synth sounds to give his tracks a futuristic patina, Barracuda’s tracks have actual hooks and hummable melodies, but he pockets them inside production work as artfully awkward and sophisticated as it is pop satisfying.

Performing live on analogue synths and a classic Roland 808, every moment of Randy Barracuda's live show is perfect sonic bliss.

  1. Live in Old Lane(Shikumen), Shanghai flavour is dye-in-the-wood(2)

     The rare Shanghai Old lanes attracted more and more foreigners.During the daytime, the business of tobacco shops, snack shops here are very good. But the foreigner like who dares to live here is rare. Rio said later he would stay here for a while, but he could not confirm whether the old lane was still here or not.
     Characteristics: the old lane is the epitome of Shanghai culture, Shikumen house, cats in the lanes, drying clothes and the people walked in the lane with pajamas , they are a part of the Shanghai Lane Culture. And some lanes’ruins also attracted foreign tourists, they looked at the past of this city Curiously and Pityingly.

  1. Live in Old Lane(Shikumen), Shanghai flavour is dye-in-the-wood

     Riding the bicycle, living in the old lane(Shikumen),eating Clay oven rolls,Fried bread stick as the breakfast, Rio, the World Traveler from Switzerland, last year came to Sh...anghai, he played here like the local Resident. Rio has repeatedly studied on the websites and many BBS, and got the help from his classmates in Shanghai.
     Firstly He confirmed the Accommodation in a Net friend’s home which was located in Town God's Temple Area. The First Day: Taking the No. 11 bus to make one-day tour, saw the Town God's Temple and circumvallation. The Second Day: Following landlord to eat the Clay oven rolls,Fried bread stick, xiaolongbao and beancurd jelly, then rode bike to cross the lane, later they went to the Dongtai Road. The Third Day: he went to the People Square and Pudong by subway.
    In these 5 Days, he always said HELLO to the a-yi ( middle-aged women ) in the lane, to learn the meaning and origin of the road name. Then he exclaimed: Shanghai is so interesting, Food and Life activities can be used for road !
